Boys and girls teams flip out over gymnastics district championship victories


The HP boys and girls gymnastics teams both won the district championship on March 22. The teams will advance to the regional championship meet April 5-6 at Rockwall High School.

In the district meet, the boys team scored a season-high 146.3 points, topping Irving, Irving MacArthur, Lake Highlands and Richardson high schools. The Scots were led by Adam Elahmadi, Keegan Black and Marshall McIlyar. Elahmadi was the district champion in the All Around, Pommel Horse and Parallel Bars, Black was the champion in Floor and Vault and McIlyar earned the championship in Horizontal Bars. Click here to view more mens results.

The Lady Scots were led by freshman Tatum Meeks, who won the district All-Around championship, and won Vault and Bars. Freshman Lily Overton was district Beam champion and Floor champion. Click here for more girls results.
