Highlander Band ends marching season with straight Division I ratings

imageThe Highlander Band finished its 2015 competitive marching season by earning straight Division 1 ratings, the highest scores possible, at the Region 20 Marching Contest. The band performed its show, “Spellbound,” at the competition Oct. 17 at Duncanville High School.

“The students easily had their best performance of the year at UIL,” Band Director Reagan Brumley said. “Three people adjudicate the UIL Region Competition and they evaluate all aspects of the performance. All three judges raved about the students’ excellence in both music and visual performance and about how exciting the production was. HPHS was one of only four Class 6A bands in our region to receive unanimous first division ratings.”

Scot football game time moved to 7 p.m. tonight
Due to heavy rains, the start of tonight’s home varsity football game against Mesquite has been moved up to 7 p.m.

UIL rules prohibit play after midnight, so if storm delays do not allow the game to be completed by that time, play will be suspended and the game will resume at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Highlander Stadium.

If the game is suspended tonight, fans are advised to keep their ticket stubs for admission to the game tomorrow.
