Belles announce new service officers and honor top members


The Highland Belles 2016-17 Service Officers were announced March 17 at the team’s end-of-year banquet. The service officers are selected by their peers and directors and are assigned to organize and implement all social and outreach activities for the Belles.

Congratulations to the following service officers:

  • President – Grace Sloan
  • Vice President – Samantha Walker
  • Secretary – Hannah McSherry
  • Treasurer – Maryellen Salter
  • Chaplain – Avery Mercurio

Other honors announced at the banquet include:

  • Most Improved Belle – Sahara Yaphet
  • Best Attitude Sophomore Belle – Jillian Ellis
  • Best Attitude Junior Belle – Maddie Basso
  • Best Attitude Senior Belle – Ej Turner
  • Best Belle – Fields Dunston

Lady Scot soccer launches playoff run

HP is seeking its 6th state championship
The Lady Scots soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a 10-0 win over Richardson on March 18. The Lady Scots earned second place in District 10-6A with a 12-2-0 record and will advance to the postseason.
HP will face Irving Nimitz in the bidistrict round of the UIL 6A state championship playoffs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24 at Highlander Stadium. Click here for the complete playoff bracket.
Tickets will be available at the gate, $5 for adults and $3 for students, and 100 lucky fans will receive a free T-shirt.
The Dallas Morning News has ranked the Lady Scots as one of the top-10 6A teams in the area.
