Scots Continue Post Season March

The HP tennis team is heading to the state tournament and looking for its eighth consecutive state title, the Lady Scot volleyball team has advanced to the 6A Region II quarterfinal, and the football team launches its playoff run on Friday. Tennis team heads to state tomorrowimageThe community is invited to a send-off for the Scot tennis team at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the HPHS student entrance on Westchester Drive. The team is is headed to College Station to compete in the UIL 6A State Tournament Nov. 11-12. Click here for tournament information.

After battling repeated weather delays, the HPHS tennis team beat The Woodlands College Park, Round Rock Westwood and, finally, Austin Westlake 10-4 in the Region II team tennis tournament Nov 1.

Lady Scots volleyball team advances to regional quarterfinalsimageThe HP volleyball team swept Rockwall in three sets (25-16, 25-23, 25-20), winning the Area Championship and advancing to the regional quarterfinal round of the UIL 6A state playoffs.

The Lady Scots will play Waco Midway at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Red Oak High School.

Varsity football to host playoff game at Highlander StadiumNimitz_VikingThe Scot football team finished the regular season with a 9-1 record and went 7-0 in district play. HP will face Irving Nimitz in the first round of the UIL 6A Division II playoffs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at Highlander Stadium.

Advance tickets will be available from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. Nov. 10-12, and from 8:30 a.m.-noon Nov. 13 at the stadium box office. Tickets will be $4 for students and $6 for adults in advance, and all tickets will be $8 at the gate.

All tickets for the playoff game are general admission, and seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. No saving of seats will be permitted.

The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. There will be a small section of the stadium reserved for varsity football parents who volunteered at the Caniac dinner.

Sophomore cross country races at state meetimage

HPHS sophomore Jordyn Kaplan raced in the UIL 6A Girls State Cross Country Meet Nov. 7 in Round Rock. The runners battled rain and mud, and Kaplan finished in 126th place.
